Artist of the Week: Bring me the Horizon

I have gotten away from doing this, which is a shame, because it was my most popular series aside from Douchebag of the Week, but I'm bringing it back.  This week's entry is metalcore Bring Me the Horizon.  The band hails from Sheffield, United Kingdom, and has made a huge impact in the music scene.

The band started off as a brutal deathcore band, with their first record entitled "Count Your Blessings".  The band moved to a more progressive sound, but still retained their supersonic sounds with 2008's "Suicide Season."

The bands most recent effort, "There is a Hell, Believe me I've Seen it, there is a Hell, let's keep it a Secret, is an absolute masterpiece.  The band abandoned typical metalcore bands, by offering few breakdowns, and more of a textured, supersonic sound.  The band also incorporates female vocalist Lights on a few of their songs, which adds an extra touch.  The music is "softer" than their previous work, but is definitely their defining work.

The band is also achieving their most mainstream success, debuting at #17 on the Billboard 200, #12 on the U.K. charts, and #1 in Australia.  Check it out these guys if you haven't already, they are pretty damn good!
