The first week of the minor league season is coming to a conclusion. Here is the action on the first Tuesday night of the year.

Kane County 4, Fort Wayne 3: Tough loss for the Tincaps (1-4), as they lose this one in 13 innings. First baseman Luis Tejada went 3-for-5 and catcher Ryan Miller had two hits. Shortstop Franchy Cordero continues to struggle, as he went 0-for-5. For the season, Cordero is 1-for-21, with 13 strikeouts. Yikes.

Lake Elsinore 11, High Desert 9: The Storm (3-3) scored nine runs in the fifth inning and held on for the win. Joe Ross turned in a magnificent start, pitching six shutout innings with 0 walks. Alberth Martinez went 2-for-5 with his second homer of the year. Martinez is second in the California League with 11 RBI's, despite hitting leadoff. Hunter Renfroe also had 3 hits, to raise his average to .240.

San Antonio 5, Tulsa 3: The Missions (4-2) scored three runs to pull this one out. First baseman Lee Orr hit his second homer of the season. Travis Jankowski and Cory Spangenberg each had three hits for San Antonio. Prized prospect Matt Wisler started, allowing a run in five innings, with seven strikeouts.
